Its timeless silhouette is elevated by intricate open-weave detailing. The crown features a softly sculpted shape with a gentle central crease, offering a refined yet relaxed profile. Surrounding the crown and extending into the brim, the delicate calado (open-weave) pattern introduces texture, lightness, and visual depth, allowing air to flow while adding an artisanal touch of elegance. FINDING YOUR PERFECT FIT

Use a soft measuring tape to measure the circumference of your head in centimeters (cm). If you don’t have one, wrap a string around your head and measure it against a ruler.

Place the tape:

• About ½ inch above your eyebrows

• Just above your ears

• Around the widest part of the back of your head

It should feel secure but not tight — you should be able to slide one finger underneath.

Measure twice and enter the larger measurement in centimeters (cm).

Our Process

Each Sombrea hat begins with the iraca palm, a fiber native to Colombia that takes two to three years to mature before harvest. The tender inner fibers are then hand-cleaned, boiled, dried, and carefully separated into fine strands, a process that demands as much patience as skill. From there, master Colombian artisans weave each hat entirely by hand, strand by strand, with no machinery. Depending on the design, a single hat can take several days to complete. No two are ever exactly alike.
